The Triple Crown Trail Series is a collaboration between the Kennebec Mountain Run, the Mountain Marmot Trail Run, and the Durango Fall Classic.
Series finishers must complete the Kennebec Mtn Run (25k), the Mountain Marmot Trail Run (12.2 miles), and Durang Fall Classic (50k).

AUG 5 – Kennebec Mountain Run – 15 miles
Join us for the Kennebec Mountain Run, a challenging trail race through the stunning La Plata Mountains of southwest Colorado. Test your alpine running skills on this rugged 15-mile course that features 3,100 feet of elevation gain and tops out at 12,200 feet through Kennebec Pass! Enjoy sweeping views of the Animas River and Dolores River valleys. Proceeds benefit La Plata County Search & Rescue.
SEP 23 – Mountain Marmot Trail Run – 12 miles
Have you ever stood at the bottom of a mountain, staring up at the top, thinking to yourself: “I wonder if I could run all the way up there?” Well, now you’re going to find out!
The Mountain Marmot Trail Run is an epic trail race. The course is simple — start at the bottom of the mountain… run to the top. Sounds hard? Yeah, it’s going to take some work. But think how great you will feel when you make it to the top!
One thing is for sure… You won’t find a more beautiful course anywhere around. You’ll be running some of the most amazing single-track trails in Colorado, right as the Fall colors are just starting to change. The views will be stunning.
OCT 7 – Durango Fall Classic – 28 miles with 5,000ft Climbing
Enjoy the best fall color trails at this challenging race that starts & finishes at Colvig Silver Camp just 9 miles from Durango. Climb up to 10,000ft via the Red Creek Trail to Missionary Ridge, then down Youngs Canyon where you ford the Florida River, refuel at an aid station & then turn around to head back to Missionary Ridge returning to Colvig via a steep First Fork Trail descent. This course is beautiful & challenging! Proceeds benefit the San Juan Mountains Association.
