Just a couple of quick race updates

We always have a few things to iron out in the first couple of years of a new race!

Race Course

We have modified the course in two important ways:

1. The lollipop loop will run counter-clockwise instead of clockwise.

2. The aid station will be at mile 8 instead of the half-way point. We recommend starting with at least one handheld water bottle.

Altra Shoe Demo

Altra will be onsite race weekend to demo the Altra Lone Peak. In case you’re interested, learn ore about the Lone Peak.

Race Route

The race will start and finish at Colvig Silver Camps (9665 Co Rd 240, Durango, CO 81301). The route is a lollipop loop run in a counter-clockwise direction. You will start the race on County Road 240 before climbing 2,00 ft up Red Creek to Missionary Ridge. You’ll traverse Missionary Ridge from northeast to southwest and then descend along First Fork Red Creek back to County Road 240 to finish at Colvig Silver Camps.

Aid Stations

There will be a single aid station at approximately mile 8. We will have water, snacks, first aid kits, and amazing volunteers there for you!

We are excited to show you a rugged, breathtaking single track trail. Your start and finish line will be in the same spot, at approx 7,700 feet. You will peak out at 9,500 feet, finishing with a total cumulative elevation gain of 2,200 feet!

You are welcome to camp out with us at Colvig Silver Camps the night before the race. Show up between 4 pm and 9 pm to set up! Quiet time will be 9:30 pm to 6:30 am the next morning.

The race check-in will be Saturday only, 7:00 -7:45 am.

The race briefing will be at 7:50 am, just before we kick off the race at 8:00 am sharp.

Bring chairs, coolers, friends and family…whatever will make your race day more enjoyable! Dogs are welcome but must be leashed to a person and remain at the start/finish line. Fresh pizza will be coming out of the oven, starting around 11 am.

Everyone who completes the course will go home with a custom branded Kleen Kanteen coffee mug and bandana. We have awards for the top three men and women and masters (50+ yrs old) men and women. Ultimate Direction showed up big time with some hydration packs for the top winners! We will also have a raffle for gift certificates to the Durango Running Company. Awards and lunch will be kicked off around 11 am. Plan to stay and party afterwards!
